Manchester United goalkeeper, Andre Onana has said that, the club will put in the necessary effort to avoid last season’s poor campaign.

The Red Devils put up a horrible performance which culminated in a 15th place finish with a paltry 42 points in last term’s English Premier League campaign.

Onana, who joined Manchester United from Serie A giants Inter Millan, ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, admits that the team suffered last season and such a feat must be avoided in the coming journey.

“We know how we suffered last season, it was tough for us so we will make sure this doesn’t happen again. The way we work hard, we enjoy the training together, we have fun and I think that is the key because we are together and when you are together it’s going to be hard to beat,” Onana said.

“We are here to take the heat when things are not good and as a goalkeeper you have to take a lot of responsibilities and we will take it, you know now we are happy the way the things are going.

“We are playing very good, we are scoring goals, we play well and I am happy how the team is developing itself but let’s see how the season is going to start because that is going to be very important.

“When you have a good start against Arsenal everything is possible.”

The Cameroon international is expected to make a quick injury return ahead of next season’s opener at home to Arsenal on August 17.

The team will however conclude their pre-season exercise with a clash against Serie A side, Fiorentina on August 9. United won the 2025 Premier League Summer Series after an entertaining 2-2 draw against Everton.
