Chippa unveil seven new signings, including Pirates stars

Betway Premiership outfit Chippa United have announced a flurry of new signings, including Orlando Pirates players Goodman Mosele and Azola Tshobeni.

The Chilli Boys have been busy in the off-season, overhauling their technical staff by bringing in Sinethemba Badela as head coach, with Musa Nyatama as his assistant. Sinesipho Mali has also been appointed as sporting director.

Mosele returns to the club on a season-long loan, while Tshobeni joins on a permanent deal after his contract with the Buccaneers was not renewed. The club’s announcement highlighted Tshobeni’s local roots, stating: “Let’s welcome another Eastern Cape-born [player], Azola Tshobeni… The talented multifunctional midfielder joins us from Orlando Pirates on a permanent move.”

Chippa also confirmed Mosele’s signing on Wednesday, saying: “We’re proud to announce the signing of Goodman ‘River-River’ Mosele on a season-long loan from Orlando Pirates.” Hailing from King William’s Town, Mosele expressed his commitment to giving his all for the team.

The club’s new additions also include defender Khanya Mfecane, a 24-year-old graduate of the Cape Town Spurs academy, and winger Thulani Mini, 23, who returns to Chippa after a stint with Stellenbosch FC.

Thamsanqa Magwaza, formerly of FC Ravens, has also joined the squad. Magwaza notably played against Chippa in the 2024 Nedbank Cup, where his former team lost a tight 2-1 match.

Veteran midfielder Sammy Seabi has also made a comeback, joining the club on a permanent basis after his departure from Polokwane City. The team’s announcement on social media praised his experience: “We are pleased to announce the permanent signing of Sammy Seabi. A true professional who will bring experience on and off the field.”

Finally, 24-year-old goalkeeper Elson Ayanda Sithole joins the team following his release from the recently relegated Cape Town City.
