Exclusive: Kenya CHAN blow as striker Masoud Juma set to miss Angola clash

Ahead of their second fixture of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN), Kenya national team Harambee Stars have suffered a huge blow after striker Masoud Juma was ruled out owing to an injury.

The 29-year-old who led the line as Kenya opened their CHAN campaign with a historic 1-0 win against DR Congo, injured his leg during the Group A fixture where he only lasted for 60 minutes and will now miss the clash against Angola at Kasarani Stadium on Wednesday.

While Kenya coach Benni McCarthy confirmed the injury, he was not able to confirm whether he will play against Angola or not. “It is not a very serious one. There are no other injury concerns apart from Masoud,” McCarthy told the media ahead of the match against Angola.

Pan-Africa Football can now confirm that Juma will not be involved and his position will be taken by Tusker striker Ray Ogam, who started against DR Congo but behind the strikers with Boniface Muchiri moving to the wing.

“Juma will not be available for Angola, he injured his right leg against DR Congo and doctors have advised that he doesn’t get involved,” a source within the team, told Pan-Africa Football. “Infact, Tusker’s Ogam is already being prepared to take up the main striking role, he will start and that could be the only change for the game.”

The fixture against Angola, will offer Kenya the chance to build on their historic debut win, while Angola will look to recover from an opening 2-0 defeat against Morocco.
