Al Ahly goalkeeper reacts after draw against Modern Sport in Nile Egyptian League opener

Al Ahly goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir spoke to the fans after his team’s 2-2 draw against Modern Sport in the opening round of the Nile Egyptian League.

Posting on social media after the match at Cairo International Stadium, Shobeir wrote:

“Not the start we wanted, but we’ll give it all the next one. 💪 Your support means the world — we feel it every game.”

Shobeir started the match ahead of legendary keeper Mohamed El Shenawy in a surprise decision by Spanish coach Jose Riveiro.

The defending champions sit fifth in the league table with one point, with the first round yet to conclude. This marks the first time in six seasons that Al Ahly have failed to win their opening fixture of the Egyptian Premier League.
