CAF confirms stadium list for Champions League and Confederation Cup

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed the list of approved stadiums for the Champions League and Confederation Cup preliminary round games. As expected, CAF has been lenient in approving stadiums for these rounds.

CAF stated that the list could be updated in the coming weeks with new developments. For now, stadiums in the Central African Republic, Djibouti, Eritrea, Guinea, Lesotho, Namibia, São Tomé, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, and Somalia are not included in the approved list. Stade Intwari (Burundi), Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno (Chad), and Somhlolo National Stadium (Eswatini) have been approved temporarily by CAF.

The approval allows 45 African nations to host matches for the CAF Champions League, CAF Confederation Cup, and the U17, U20, and U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. South Africa tops the list with 13 approved stadiums, followed by Morocco with 10, and 2022 African Nations Championship hosts Algeria with nine accredited stadiums. Many countries have at least one approved venue.

This list will only apply to the aforementioned club and youth competitions. Few nations so far have received approval to host matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup African Qualifiers in September. Nonetheless, many nations remain barred from hosting games due to a lack of CAF-accredited stadiums in their respective countries.
