Head coach of Asante Kotoko Karim Zito says the club will go all out to eliminate Kwara United from the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The two-time African champions are paired against the Ilorin based club for the first phase of the CAF Confederation Cup which kicks off in September.
The Porcupine Warriors return to Africa for the first time since 2022 following their success in the Ghana FA Cup competition last season. Karim Zito, who led Dreams FC to the semifinals of the same competition two seasons ago spoke to the club’s media outlet.
“Every club that qualifies to play in the competition is a good club. I met Kwara United during my stint with Dreams FC. It’s a tough fixture but we will do everything possible to eliminate them,” he told the club’s media.
Kotoko will play host to Kwara United in the first leg between September 19 and 21 before traveling for the return fixture in Nigeria from September 26 to 28.
The record Ghana Premier League holders will face Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Casablanca in the second preliminary round if they are able to go past Kwara United who placed 14 in last season’s Nigeria top flight.
