Marumo Gallants FC coach, Lafitte Alexandre, has disclosed ingredients behind his team’s come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Orlando Pirates in South Africa on Tuesday.
Gallants had started the 2024-2025 Betway Premiership campaign with a battling 2-1 victory over Richards Bay FC last weekend. The Bloemfontein-based side snatched the three points behind playing for the better part of the game with 10 men.
On Tuesday, once again, Alexandre’s men showed their strength of character to come from behind and upset Pirates on Tuesday.
Reflecting on the Betway Premiership match, The Frenchman told SuperSport Television that his players’ newly-found winning mentality prevailed over Abdeslam Ouaddou’s team.
“We had to develop good football and a good mentality and we believe in it,” the 28-year-old said. “It is very good result for the next game.
“For me, it is very important to develop this, change the mentality, to believe, to trust me and the team. It is very important to develop this. If you have the mentality to believe, it is possible to have a good result.”
Tuesday’s defeat was the second on the bounce in the league for Ouaddou in charge of Pirates, results that should see pressure mounting. Ironically, the Moroccan secured the job with the Soweto giants after his impressive spell at Gallants last season.
