Zambia national team captain Kelvin Kampamba has said it is not over yet as they strive to get a win against two-time champions Morocco and revive their qualification hopes in the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN).
After back-to-back defeats against DR Congo and Angola, the Chipolopolo will have to win their remaining Group A matches against the Atlas Lions and Kenya to stand a chance of reaching the knockout stages.
Speaking during a pre-match press conference at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kampamba said the Chipolopolo would give Morocco a good run. “Zambia has always reached the quarter-finals yes, but it’s not over yet because we will have a good game against Morocco. We expect a tough game. They should not underrate us because we will give them a good run for their money,” he said.
“We have to believe in ourselves as players. We are here to show our character and skills every time we enter the pitch. We do not decide to be beaten easily, but its circumstances beyond our control sometimes,” he said.
“We will go there and fight for maximum points.”
Kenya top Group A on seven points with Angola lying second on four while DR Congo and Morocco have three points with Zambia lying at the base with naught points. Kenya and Angola have played three games while the remaining members have only played two.
