El-Merriekh Bentiu lift South Sudan Super Cup

El-Merriekh Bentiu are the 2025 South Sudan Super Cup champions after their penalty shootout win over Jamus FC in Juba.

The South Sudanese champions opened the new season with a Super Cup victory at the expense of the Juba side. It is the first time in history that El-Merriekh Bentiu have beaten Jamus in a cup final.

The two clubs played out a goalless draw during the ninety minutes. The game was an evenly matched affair between the two sides at the Juba National Stadium before Merriekh won 4–3 on penalties.

The reigning South Sudanese league champions now need to regroup for their crucial CAF Champions League preliminary round fixture against Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman. South Sudan National Cup and Super Cup champions El-Merriekh Bentiu are also participating in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round against Tanzanian side Azam.

After their Super Cup triumph, El-Merriekh Bentiu secured a USD 300,000 sponsorship as they aim to win their second league title and advance further in the Confederation Cup.
