Chippa United, a team in the Betway Premiership, has officially signed Congolese defender Nathan Fasika from Cape Town City FC. The announcement was made by the club on their social media channels on Friday night.
“Chippa United are pleased to announce the signing of Nathan Iduma Fasika. The Kinshasa-born experienced defender joins us from Cape Town City FC as we continue to reinforce our squad,” the club’s statement reads.
Fasika parted ways with CT City following their relegation from the South African elite league to the second division last season.

Fasika, 26, is now officially a member of the Chilli Boys after spending four years with Cape Town City. During his time there, he also had a loan spell with Norwegian side Valerenga, where he played a significant role in helping them earn promotion to the Norwegian Premier League.
Chippa United’s squad overhaul doesn’t stop with Fasika. According to recent reports, striker Somila Ntsundwana, formerly of Richards Bay FC, may also be joining the club. He was reportedly assessed by the team during the early pre-season, but it was believed that former coach Sinethemba Badela did not want him on the squad.
Badela’s time with the club may be coming to an end, with reports suggesting he could be on his way out after less than 10 weeks. This change could pave the way for Ntsundwana to officially sign with Chippa United.
Badela is rumoured to have had major disagreements with new sporting director Sinesipho Mali, particularly concerning player recruitment.
