Ivorian winger Yan Diomande opened his goal account for German side RB Leipzig in a DFB Pokal match on Saturday. Diomande scored on his debut for Leipzig in a 4-2 win over fourth-tier side Sandhausen.
The 19-year-old winger joined the Bundesliga side from Spanish outfit Leganés in a deal worth 20 million euros. The Ivory Coast youth international equalized for his new side six minutes into the encounter. Diomande collected a pass from Willi Orban inside the area and slotted home from close range.
RB Leipzig conceded another goal in the 18th minute but staged a comeback in the second half. Diomande amassed 86 minutes on his official debut for the club. He is expected to be a key player for the 2025/26 season under the guidance of German coach Ole Werner.
Yan Diomande has represented Ivory Coast at U17 and U23 levels and is being labeled as one of the most exciting prospects to come out of West Africa.
