Zamalek coach Yannick Ferreira: “We faced difficulties today and pitch conditions did not help us”

Belgian Yannick Ferreira, Zamalek coach, spoke after the draw against Arab Contractors in today’s Nile Egyptian League match.

Zamalek were held to a goalless draw at home in Week 2 of the league against Arab Contractors at Cairo International Stadium.

The Zamalek coach said in the post-match press conference:

“To win tight games like today’s, you need to be more effective in the attacking third. We faced difficulties today against an opponent who relied on defensive organization. We needed to show our quality, but the pitch conditions did not help us.”

He continued:

“For the players to control the ball, they need to touch it three times on this pitch surface. This is not an excuse for the team after today’s draw.”

Ferreira added:

“Nasser Maher is a player of great quality, and we are looking to benefit from him more in the upcoming period.”

Zamalek coach went on:

“The pitch did not help Zamalek appear at our best. I brought on a second striker in the final minutes because the ground did not allow us to play our usual way of dominating possession.”

Ferreira concluded:

“We will try to improve in the coming period. We did our best to win today, and we had the motivation and desire to get the three points, but we were not able to score the goal that would give us the victory.”
