Stellenbosch FC defender Kazie Enyinnaya says they are capable of salvaging something from Wednesday evening’s game against Orlando Pirates.
The Nigerian analysed Stellenbosch’s strengths ahead of the Betway Premiership match against the Buccaneers, admitting that it would not be a stroll in the park.
“It’s going to be a tough game, but we have trained and prepared well ahead of the match,” Enyinnaya told his club’s website. “We know what is ahead of us, but I also know what the players in this team are capable of.
“We have to keep pushing and get something against Pirates to build on the start the club has made to the season. The aim is always to improve, so we want to build on what we achieved last season, starting on Wednesday.”
The former Nigerian has since called for more focus and solid defending if they are to overcome the Buccaneers.
He said: “We have to focus and make sure we don’t concede early, and make sure we score. If we can do that, we’ll give ourselves the best possible chance of reaching the final.”
The 26-year-old said he wants to build on the goal he scored when the Stellies overcame Sekhukhune United 2-0 in the MTN8 quarterfinal, first leg match over the weekend.
“I was thrilled to score my first goal in the Maroon jersey. This is something I have been working on, and I believe more goals are on their way. I’m working hard and putting in my best to improve and help the team with more goals,” he said.
Stellies go into the Betway Premiership match with the wind in their sails following the victory over Sekhukhune, by miles the best this season from Steve Barker’s men.
On the other hand, the Soweto giants drew 1-1 with Mamelodi Sundowns in the same cup, but are yet to register a win in the Betway Premiership.
