Dorgeles Nene joins the club of legendary coach Jose Mourinho in Turkey

Turkish giants Fenerbahce have announced the signing of Dorgeles Nene from FC Red Bull Salzburg on a 5-year contract, bringing an end to the Malian attacker’s spell in Austria.

Nene, 22, first joined the Red Bull system in January 2021, leaving his home country of Mali to sign for the Austrian club. He initially featured for FC Liefering, where he registered 10 goals and 11 assists in 31 appearances, before a loan spell at SV Ried in early 2022 (17 appearances, 2 goals, 3 assists).

The forward then impressed on loan in Belgium with KVC Westerlo during the 2022/23 campaign, scoring 13 goals and providing 4 assists in 36 appearances. Returning to Salzburg, Nene became an important figure, making 88 appearances in total for the club with 22 goals and 15 assists. Last season alone, he was directly involved in 24 goals.

According to reports, Fenerbahce will pay an initial €15 million for his services, with the total package potentially rising to €20 million through performance-related bonuses.

On the international stage, Dorgeles Nene has already earned 23 caps for Mali, scoring 7 goals.

The 22-year-old arrives in Istanbul after a standout season with Salzburg, where he scored 15 goals and provided 9 assists in all competitions.

Notably, the legendary Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho is the head coach of Dorgeles’ new club, Fenerbahce.
