Ex-Uganda Cranes defender Murushid Juuko seals deal with Kitara FC

Kitara FC have officially added seasoned defender Murushid Juuko to their squad, handing him a two-year contract ahead of the new campaign.

The former Uganda Cranes centre-back has been out of competitive football since leaving Vipers SC at the end of the 2023/24 season. His return marks a major boost for Kitara, who are eager to tighten their backline with proven experience.

Juuko’s career journey is one that speaks of both longevity and resilience. From his early days at Bunamwaya (now Vipers), he went on to feature for SC Victoria University, earned a big move to Simba SC in Tanzania, and later crossed to North Africa with Wydad Casablanca in Morocco.

Locally, he also had a notable stint with Express FC, where his leadership at the heart of defense stood out.

At Kitara, Juuko joins a busy transfer window that has already seen the club secure the services of Isa Lumu, Amir Kakomo, Henry Musisi, and Sadiq Ssekyembe.

More reinforcements are expected, with the club set to unveil John Toki Byamukama from Tusker FC, Rashid Toha from Kenya Police, and Emmanuel Wasswa from Express FC.

Meanwhile, Kitara have also tied down key players from last season, with Frank Zaga Tumwesigye, Patrick Kaddu, Jasper Aheebwa, David Ndihabwe, and Benjamin Nyakoojo all committing their futures to the Hoima-based side.

With Juuko’s wealth of experience and the club’s aggressive recruitment, Kitara FC look well-positioned to mount a strong challenge in the new season.
