The government of Kenya has pledged to hasten the rehabilitation of the Bomet Stadium ahead of the new Football Kenya Federation Premier League season. The sporting facility has been home to FC Bomet which is poised to make its premier league debut next month following their promotion from the National Super League.

Speaking during the club’s fund drive at a Nairobi hotel, Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration Kipchumba Murkomen (Patron) noted the need for a massive refurbishment works on the venue in order to help the team host their home games there as well as serving the other needs of the larger Bomet community such as athletics.

“We’re finalising the decision on what exactly to do at the Bomet IAAF Stadium pitch, and if H.E. the President agrees, it will take less than three months to deliver a proper pitch,” said Murkomen.

He remained optimistic about the team’s prospects for the upcoming season, emphasising the pivotal role that sports play in enhancing mental health, fostering community cohesion, and promoting peace. He extended his gratitude to the supporters for their unwavering backing of the team.

The team is set to host its home matches at the Kericho Greens Stadium temporarily as face-lift work begins at the Bomet Stadium. CS Murkomen further revealed that President William Ruto will fulfil his pledge of a bus donation to the club.

Board Chairman Bishop Fred Akama says the team has a target of winning the title inside their first three seasons in the top tier league. APS Bomet has signed 10 players ahead of the new season and has been in camp at the Kericho Teachers Training College for the past three weeks.

The Michael Nam coached side will begin their campaign against Shabana FC at the Gusii Stadium on September 21, 2025.
