After a quiet substitute appearance to mark his second debut with Olympique Marseille, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice in his first start of the 2025-26 campaign as OM marched to a 5-2 victory over Paris FC in Saturday’s French Ligue 1 clash.
The Gabonese superstar pounced on a careless pass by the Paris FC defense and put Marseille up for good in the 73rd minute to make it 3-2. Nigeria national team winger Moses Simon had previously leveled the match before the hour mark for Paris FC.
Earlier in the match, Aubameyang got hosts OM off to a dream start. The 36-year-old drew a penalty kick for Mason Greenwood to convert from the spot and put Marseille ahead before Aubameyang scored his first goal of the match in the 24th minute to double the advantage. Aubameyang’s match winner put an end to Paris FC’s comeback hopes and allowed Marseille to reassert their dominance.
The veteran goal scorer returned to Marseille after a productive 2024-25 season in the Saudi Pro League with Al Qadsiah, with whom he scored 21 goals in 36 appearances. Aubameyang previously starred with Marseille before his move to Saudi Arabia with 30 goals in 51 games for OM during the 2023-24 season.
After an opening match defeat at Rennes, Marseille have earned their first victory ahead of their next match at Lyon next Sunday.
