Nigerian striker Victor Boniface move to AC Milan is reportedly on hold, as the Italian giants deliberate on the results of the striker’s medical tests.
The 24-year-old forward has since returned to his parent club, Bayer Leverkusen, while awaiting a final decision from Milan’s medical and management staff.
Fabrizio Romano and journalist Sacha Tavolieri, have provided updates on the evolving situation
Fabrizio Romano on his X handle said that Boniface had returned to Germany because there was “no green light”.
“After medical tests at AC Milan, Victor Boniface returns to Germany as there’s still no green light to his move.
After 48 hours in Milano, Boniface will be back in Leverkusen today waiting for AC Milan imminent decision on his medical tests/checks made over the weekend.”
Tavolieri, meanwhile, went a step further, reporting that AC Milan had decided not to proceed with the signing based on their doctors’ opinions.
“AC Milan has decided not to sign Victor Boniface according to doctors’ opinions during the medical examination. Confirmed.”
The core of the issue reportedly lies with Boniface’s physical condition, particularly his right knee, which has a concerning history of two prior ACL injuries.
This pre-existing condition, coupled with recurring muscle problems that limited his appearances for Leverkusen last season, has raised significant red flags for Milan’s medical team.
In an effort to be thorough, Milan reportedly put Boniface through a series of extensive and in-depth medical tests over a 48-hour period, including examinations at the Galeazzi Orthopaedic Institute.
Milan had proposed to pay German club Bayer Leverkusen a loan fee of five million euros for the striker.
They would also have had the option to buy him on a permanent basis for 24 million euros after this loan spell.
