Mozambique: Yamikani Chester, Pelembe combine to demolish Black Bulls

Former Mamelodi Sundowns’ winger Elias Pelembe turned the hands of time to spearhead UD Songo’s torment of Black Bulls FC in the Mozambique Premier League on Sunday.

Pelembe scored then provided an assist for Yamikani Chester to score a hat-trick in the 4-0 demolition of the holders FC in Tete.

While the afternoon belonged to the Malawian Chester for scoring twice in the first-half and once in the second-half, it was Pelembe who provided the catalyst for the emphatic victory.

The 41-year-old former SuperSport United attacker provided the assist for Chester’s opener in the 24th minute.

Four minutes later, provider turned scorer when Pelembe scored Songo’s second goal, arriving at the back-post to slide in a low flying ball across the goal line.

Eventually, Chester, the former Malawian international, claimed his double three minutes to the break.

The former Mighty Wanderers’ winger completed his hat-trick with a 72nd-minute goal to seal the maximum points.

It was a dramatic collapse for Bulls, who months ago, represented Mozambique decently in the 2024-2025 CAF Confederation Cup, reaching the knockout stages.

Songo have since reduced the gap to Mozambique league leaders Ferroviario de Lichinga to three points while Bulls lie in a distant fourth, six points behind the pacesetters.
