FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza lost his cool during a post-match conference after beating Caps United on Wednesday, April 30 2025.
Mapeza was annoyed after being asked if he was relieved by the win allegedly have earlier said he was worried with the team’s lack of goals.
“I knew it was going to come so if I say I am relieved it is like I was under pressure,” he said.
The mood turned tense in the press room when one reporter insisted that the coach had earlier said he was worried. The former Zimbabwe coach insisted that saying his team was struggling to score goals did not imply he was worried.
“It is either we were going to win or lose. Our job what is it for? Paying games and winning games. If you are losing, can a coach be happy?” He retorted.
“I was never worried. Who said I was worried? I was ok I said goals are not coming so don’t say I was worried. Don’t put words in my mouth. I don’t like it. Listen to me you are a young man; you are growing. You have to change your attitude.”
Mapeza has since threatened to shun the press over their bad attitude. His team’s next game is against Ngezi Platinum this weekend. FC Platinum are in eighth place five points behind leaders and holders Simba Bhora after nine rounds of games.
