The Malawi senior women’s national football team completed a double over visiting Lesotho, beating them 3-0 again in a friendly played in Blantyre on Sunday.
The first warm-up played on Friday saw the Scorchers, as Malawi are also called, getting the better of Lesotho by a similar margin at Mpira Stadium.
Just as was the case in the first match, it was striker Asimenye Simwaka who delivered the goods again on Sunday.
Simwaka, who scored two goals on Friday, went one better to register a hat trick, according to the Malawi FA media.
The lady, who is also an athlete, scored the strike in first-half stoppage time by connecting skipper Sabina Thom’s delivery.
The striker then added two more headed goals in the second half to seal the victory for Lovemore Fazili’s team.
The teams squared off to fine-tune for the forthcoming COSAFA Women’s Championship next month.
Malawi also have crucial Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola also next month, hence focusing on the friendlies.
