Kaizer Chiefs are making adjustments to their league calendar as they prepare to embark on their CAF Confederation Cup journey.
The club has announced a change to their upcoming home Betway Premiership fixture against Sekhukhune United, moving the match up by one day to accommodate their travel to Angola.
The match, originally scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, will now take place on Tuesday, September 16, at FNB Stadium with a kickoff time of 7:30 PM (SA time).
This slight alteration will give the Glamour Boys an extra day to travel to Luanda for their first-leg preliminary match against Kabuscorp Sport Clube do Palanca on the weekend of September 19-21. The second leg will be played the following week at home.
Chiefs will be South Africa’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup alongside Stellenbosch FC. Meanwhile, last year’s finalists, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Orlando Pirates will compete in the more prestigious CAF Champions League.
The fixture change adds an interesting wrinkle to a highly anticipated matchup.
Both Chiefs and Sekhukhune United are the only teams in the league yet to lose a game this season. Chiefs have been in stellar form, winning four and drawing one without conceding a single goal, while Sekhukhune United currently sit atop the log after a strong start.
The rescheduled clash will be a true test for both sides as they look to continue their unbeaten runs.
