Betway Premiership outfit AmaZulu FC have officially signed experienced forward Thabiso Kutumela following his impressive performances in Bafana Bafana colours at the 2025 CHAN tournament in East Africa.
AmaZulu confirmed the arrival of 32-year-old Kutumela, stating that the attacker will wear the number 10 jersey at the club.
Kutumela joins AmaZulu as a free agent, having parted ways with Richards Bay FC at the end of the 2024/25 season. Despite reported interest from Durban City FC and Chippa United, negotiations with both clubs fell through. His impressive form at the CHAN tournament, where he scored three goals, ultimately led to this new opportunity.
AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu personally welcomed the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates striker, expressing his excitement about the acquisition.

“We are very pleased to welcome Thabiso Kutumela into the club,” said Zungu. “He is an accomplished striker. When he was at Maritzburg United, he competed alongside the likes of Bradley Grobler and Peter Shalulile for the league’s top goal scorer award. Both Shalulile and Grobler are still doing just that for their respective teams, and we trust Kutumela will hit the ground running at Usuthu. We welcome him with warm hands.”
Zungu also revealed that Kutumela has been on AmaZulu’s radar for some time and will be a key figure in coach Arthur Zwane’s plans, particularly as the team uses the current international break to sharpen its finishing.
Kutumela’s arrival is expected to add significant firepower to Usuthu’s front line as the team looks to convert promising performances into goals and climb the Betway Premiership standings. The move offers Kutumela a chance to revitalise his career after a challenging season with Richards Bay, where he made only 11 appearances and scored just one goal.
