Algerian international Mohamed Amine Amoura underlined the importance of Thursday’s encounter against Botswana in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, describing it as a “decisive” step in their road to the tournament.

Algeria will host Botswana on Thursday, September 5, at the Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou, as part of Matchday 7 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. GMT.

Speaking on Wednesday during the mixed zone at the Hussein Aït Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou, the Wolfsburg striker stressed the weight of the occasion:

“The match against Botswana is a decisive one in the race for World Cup qualification,” Amoura said.

He added:

“We hope to achieve victory and bring joy to the Algerian people by reaching the World Cup. All the players are ready and aware of the responsibility on our shoulders.”

The forward also spoke about his professional career, revealing that he received multiple contacts during the summer transfer window but has yet to reach a final agreement.

“I had contacts with several clubs, but nothing was completed,” he explained. “I still have a lot to give and room to develop.”
