Malawian striker Temwa Chawinga outshone her Zambian counterpart Rachel Kundananji during a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) match in America on Sunday.
Chawinga scored a late goal to seal Kansas City Current’s 2-0 victory over Kundananji’s Bay FC at PayPal Park Stadium.
The Malawian outpaced her markers then embarked on a mazy run before firing the ball past Bay’s advancing goalkeeper two minutes into added time.
Chawinga’s goal killed hopes of Bay’s comeback after Current had played for the better part of the away game holding on to a slender 1-0 lead.
Michelle Cooper had scored the opener on the stroke of half-time.
Meanwhile, the Scorchers striker maintained her chase for the Golden Boot Award after taking her tally to 12 goals.
Her exploits have seen Current still leading the NWSL pace, opening a 17-point gap from second-placed Washington Spirit FC. Bay stay in third place from the foot of the 14-member log table.
