South Africa national team winger Oswin Appollis has revealed their readiness to take on ‘quality’ Nigeria in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture at Free State Stadium on Tuesday.
While Bafana Bafana won their last Group C fixture 3-0 against Lesotho, the Super Eagles registered a slim 1-0 win against Rwanda in Uyo.
“It’s going to be an exciting game but a difficult one. Nigeria has so much quality, but we’re ready for the fight,” said Appollis as quoted by Sowetan.
He added: “It [being part of Bafana squad who’re on the brink of World Cup qualification] is amazing, seeing that we last played in the World Cup in 2010.We’re very close to qualifying for the World Cup, but we have to put in the work as we still have three games left.
“We’re in a good position to go to the World Cup, but all the remaining games won’t be easy. However, with the squad that we have, it’s possible that we can go to the World Cup.”
Heading into the matchday eight fixture, South Africa is currently leading Group C with 16 points while Nigeria are lying third on 10 points.
