Siwelele FC sign Nigerian striker Chibuike Ohizu

Siwelele FC have acquired the services of Nigerian striker Chibuike Ohizu, strengthening their attacking line in the early stages of the 2025/26 PSL season.

Ohizu joins the newly-established Betway Premiership club from Sekhukhune United, where he fell out of favour due to a reported ‘misunderstanding’ with the club’s head coach, Eric Tinkler.

As a result, the Nigerian trained with Sekhukhune’s reserve side before theΒ two parties eventually agreed to a loan move to Siwelele, where Ohizu will be reunited with his former coach, Lehlohonolo Seema. The pair previously worked together at Sekhukhune last season.

The 28-year-old was a player for Sekhukhune last season, making 25 appearances across all competitions, scoring six goals, and providing one assist. Since joining the club in the 2020/21 season, he has played over 110 games, netting 30 goals and contributing three assists.

In a statement on Thursday, Siwelele FC expressed their excitement about the new signing, saying, “Welcome our new striker, Chibuike Ohizu! He’s Green and White. Welcome home.”

Ohizu joins a list of new recruits for Siwelele, who acquired SuperSport United’s Premiership status. Other new players include Buhle Mkhwanazi, Relebogile Mokhuoane, Wayde Lekay, and Tebogo Potsane.

Siwelele FC is currently in 11th place on the league table with four points from five matches. Their next game is against Durban City FC at Chatsworth Stadium on Tuesday, September 16.
