Andre Onana arrives in Turkey for Trabzonspor medical

It appears to be a matter of time before all is confirmed with regards to Andre Onana’s impending loan to Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor on loan from Manchester United.

Photos and videos on social media have been documenting Onana’s flight to Trabzon where a loan until the end of the ongoing 2025-26 season is being finalized. Pending the result of Onana’s reported medical, the loan transfer will be confirmed. Fabrizio Romano reported a few days earlier that Trabzonspor will not have to pay a loan fee and will also not have a purchase clause to acquire Onana permanently.

Social media videos showed Onana being feted upon his arrival in Trabzon where Trabzonspor supporters were eager to show their excitement at the goalkeeper’s impending arrival.

This past week, Onana was in action with the Cameroon national team, who defeated Eswatini at home before falling away from home at Cape Verde in a result that did serious damage to the Indomitable Lions’ hopes of winning Group D.

Andre Onana’s escapes United spotlight

Onana’s struggles for club and country have been well documented but now an opportunity awaits for the former Inter Milan and Ajax keeper to regain his form out of the bright spotlight of the English Premier League and Manchester United.

He joins a Trabzonspor side with big ambitions to return to the top of Turkish football after a disappointing seventh place finish last season. The club have spent well over €30 million to boost their squad, bringing in Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu and Cape Verde defender Wagner Pina among several other promising signings.

The club have three victories and a draw through four matches in the Super Lig and next face a difficult test away at last season’s runners-up Fenerbahce.
