The stage is set for history as African women’s football gears up to join the global spotlight at the maiden FIFA Women’s Champions Cup, which kicks off on 8 October 2025 in Wuhan, China PR.

The tournament will unite the top women’s clubs from every continent in the battle for the first-ever world crown in women’s club football.

Africa’s representative will be determined through the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League, whose champions will be crowned in November. That team will not only secure continental glory but also earn the right to represent Africa on the world stage.

The CAF winners will enter the competition in Round 2, where they will face the victor of the opening clash between Wuhan Jiangda WFC (AFC champions) and Auckland United FC (OFC champions).

Already confirmed for the knockout rounds are some of the game’s biggest names, including Arsenal WFC (UEFA champions) and Gotham FC (Concacaf champions).

So far, three African clubs have sealed their spots in this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League finals:

Gaborone United (COSAFA)
USFAS Bamako (WAFU A)
ASEC Mimosas (WAFU

The remaining two regional qualifiers, CECAFA and UNAF, are still ongoing and will complete the lineup of contenders. The final stages of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup — including the semi-finals, third-place playoff, and final — will take place between 28 January and 1 February 2026 at a centralised venue to be announced.

For Africa, this journey is more than a competition. It is a historic opportunity to showcase the continent’s talent, measure up against the world’s elite, and inspire the next generation of women footballers.
