Kaizer Chiefs have officially welcomed striker Khanyisa Mayo on a season-long loan from Algerian club CR Belouizdad, and the forward is already calling it a dream come true.
Mayo, who was reportedly deemed surplus to requirements by his Algerian club, expressed his excitement about the high-profile move. He was unveiled on Friday, and the striker also met his new teammates at the Kaizer Chiefs Village on the same day.
Mayo penned a loan deal with Chiefs, having the option to buy him on a permanent deal at the end of the 2025/26 season.
“The only team I would come back for is Kaizer Chiefs,” he told the club’s media department. The former Cape Town City FC attacker added that he considers Chiefs the “biggest team in the world” and cited his father’s history with the club as a major reason for the move.
The 27-year-old will be looking to regain his top form in the Betway Premiership after a challenging stint in Algeria, where he scored six goals and provided one assist in 41 appearances.
Mayo could make his debut for the Soweto giants on September 16 when they face Sekhukhune United at FNB Stadium in a highly anticipated top-of-the-table clash.
