Kanzari retains Esperance board support despite shaky start to season

Esperance management affirmed their trust in head coach Maher Kanzari after a Tunisian Ligue 1 loss to Stade Tunisien on Saturday, September 13.

The week five games saw Kanzari’s charges taste their first league loss of the new season.

The shaky start to the 2025/26 season saw Espérance win only two matches, while sitting in fourth place with eight points. Kanzari’s job at the Tunisian champions is still intact. Tunis Afrique Presse reported that the board still backs Kanzari.

A close source familiar with the matter told TAP that the Esperance coach remains for the foreseeable future.

KANZARI’S ESPÉRANCE JOB “NOT ON THE AGENDA” TO BE CHANGED

“There is no reason to part ways with Maher Kanzari, and the idea of changing the technical staff is not on the agenda.”

The 52-year-old former Tunisian international led Espérance to a treble in his first season as a trainer. Espérance will kick off their CAF Champions League campaign next week against a Niger side, AS FAN, in the preliminary rounds.
