Botola Pro: RS Berkane win courtesy of Morocco’s CHAN heroes

Reigning champions RS Berkane are perfect through two matches in Morocco’s top flight Botola Pro following a 2-1 victory over Kawkab Marrakech on Tuesday.

2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) top scorer Oussama Lamlioui opened his Botola Pro account from the penalty spot inside three minutes. A red card issued to newly-promoted Kawkab Marrakech effectively doomed their chances at home against the reigning champions.

It was another star from Morocco’s CHAN-winning team who put RSB out of reach. Substitute Paul Bassene got behind the KACM defense after a defender slipped and the Senegalese attacker crossed low for Youssef Mehri to tap in to double the advantage. Despite their numerical disadvantage, KACM pulled a late goal back but could not find an equalizer.

RS Berkane travel to Togo

2024-25 CAF Confederation Cup winners RS Berkane will next face Togolese side ASC Kara as they begin their CAF Champions League campaign. The Orange Boys travel to Lomé for the first leg on Sunday and will host the second leg on Saturday, September 27.
