Ahead of their back-to-back face off with rivals Orlando Pirate, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has revealed the biggest concern facing the South African club.

Amakhosi are preparing for two important fixtures against Pirates, the first scheduled for Saturday, May 3 at FNB Stadium, a Betway Premiership fixture, which they must win to keep alive their hopes of finishing amongst top four teams at the end of the campaign.

After the league meeting, Chiefs will return to action yet again against Pirates, seeking to end their trophy drought as they battle their Soweto Giants rivals in the final of the domestic Nedbank Cup at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on May 10.

In the league front, Chiefs, who have been blowing hot and cold so far in this campaign, find themselves sitting ninth on the 16-team league table having amassed 30 points from eight wins, six draws and suffered 11 defeats.

“It is unfortunate that the situation is very bad; we have to accept it, there is no excuse for that,” said Nabi. “But the most worrying thing is not about the results, but that we have even lost our way of playing, and that is even more concerning,” Nabi admitted as quoted by FARPost ahead of their league fixture against Pirates on Saturday.

“About the statistics of all the previous games, we can say a lot of things about it, but the only thing that we can say is that we are in a very bad situation, and that’s the situation that we are in.

“I can take you through the situation of the previous weeks. Before we had a game plan, we were creating opportunities, probably not scoring enough, and sometimes we got caught on a counter-attack or transition. But the situation is not good, and there is no excuse for that.”

Chiefs qualified for the Nedbank Cup final following a 2-1 semi-final victory against rivals Mamelodi Sundowns while Pirates defeated Marumo Gallants 1-0 to reach the final for the third consecutive season.
