Pyramids FC edge ZED with Ziko’s decisive header in Nile Egyptian League

Pyramids FC secured a 1-0 victory over ZED in the Egyptian Premier League on Thursday evening, with substitute Mostafa Ziko emerging as the difference-maker at the 30 June Stadium.

Introduced in the second half, Ziko delivered the game’s defining moment in the 73rd minute. Meeting a precise cross from Moroccan full-back Mohamed Chibi, the winger rose above his marker to send a header crashing off the crossbar and across the line. The officials confirmed the ball had indeed crossed, sparking celebrations from the Pyramids players.

The encounter was not without controversy. ZED were forced to play the second half without their head coach, Mohamed Shawky, who was shown a straight red card for his protests against referee Mohamed Maarouf. From the stands, Shawky could only watch as his side struggled to restore parity.

Pyramids might have doubled their advantage late on, with Chibi once again instrumental. His delivery found Mahmoud Zalaka who shot, but goalkeeper Ali Lotfi produced an outstanding reflex save to keep ZED in contention.

In the end, Ziko’s intervention proved enough. The result lifts Pyramids to 11 points and into third place in the standings. ZED, meanwhile, remain on nine points, sitting ninth.
