Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has been named AFC Bournemouth’s Michael Matthews Jewellers Player of the Month for August, following a blistering start to the Premier League season.

According to a statement from the Premier League club, Semenyo’s performances in August were crucial in helping Andoni Iraola’s men to a bright start to the 2025/26 season.
The statement added: “The Ghana international opened the campaign with a dramatic brace at Anfield in a 4-2 defeat to Liverpool, with one of the goals an incredible solo run which was nominated for the Premier League’s Goal of the Month.
“In the next match, he provided a key assist in the narrow 1-0 home win over Wolves, helping set up the decisive goal from Marcus Tavernier early on.
“The 25-year-old then played an essential role in the victory away at Tottenham Hotspur, contributing tirelessly and showing his usual attacking threat, despite not getting on the scoresheet.”
And concluded: “These performances have been recognised by supporters voting on the AFC Bournemouth app. Semenyo is the first recipient of the Player of the Month award for the 2025/26 season, a recognition well deserved after a superb month.”
So far this season, Semenyo has featured in four Premier League matches scoring three goals, and providing two assists.
He joined Bournemouth in 2023, after completing a transfer worth £10 million on a four-and-a-half-year contract He made his debut for the club in 1-0 Premier League loss at Brighton & Hove Albion, and scored his first goal on April 30, 2023, in a 4-1 home win over Leeds United.
