Watch: Trezeguet reconciles with Al Ahly fans after controversial celebration

Al Ahly star Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet made peace with the club’s supporters on Friday evening, following his side’s 1-0 victory over Ceramica Cleopatra in Round 7 of the Nile Egyptian League.

The Egypt international was at the heart of the action, scoring the game’s only goal in the 26th minute. After combining with Ashraf Bencharki in a one-two, Trezeguet drove forward and unleashed a precise strike that nestled into the corner, sealing a much-needed win for the defending champions.

But it was the winger’s actions after the goal that stole the spotlight. Unlike his previous celebration, where a “silencing” gesture was interpreted as a response to critics and fueled tension with the Al Ahly faithful.

This time Trezeguet turned to the stands with open arms, applauding the crowd in a clear attempt to rebuild trust.

The reconciliation continued after the final whistle. Having been named Man of the Match, Trezeguet once again saluted the supporters and threw his shirt into the stands, sparking a scramble among fans eager to claim a symbolic piece of the evening.

For Al Ahly, the result brought relief after a difficult spell that saw them go three league games without a win. The victory lifted the Red Devils to 9 points and up to 10th place in the standings, while Ceramica Cleopatra remained 8th on 10 points.
