CAFCL: Power Dynamos earn narrow victory over ASEC Mimosas

Zambia’s Power Dynamos earned a slender home 1-0 victory over ASEC Mimosas in the first leg of their 2025-2026 CAF Champions League (CAFCL) qualifying duel on Saturday.

Innocent Kashita’s seventh-minute goal was all the MTN Super League defending champions needed to overcome the fancied opponents from Ivory Coast at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in the mining town of Ndola.

Prince Mumba found space on the right avenue before floating a well weighted ball into the far end of Mimosa’s defence for Kashita to outjump his markers and power his header into the net.

The Ivorian champions tried to come back into the game and had some decent chances. In one of those chances, Romaric Amoussou shot from afar but his effort went straight into goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga’s palms.

That goal settled the preliminary round, first leg contest, but there is no doubt that ASEC coach Julien Chevalier believes the tie remains very much alive going into the second leg in Abidjan next Sunday.
