Asisat Oshoala pivotal in Al Hilal’s victory over Al Ahli

Al Hilal’s Asisat Oshoala is making a fast impact in the Saudi Women’s Premier League as she provided an assist and scored in Saturday’s 3–2 win over Al-Ahli on the road at the Prince Sultan bin Fahd Stadium on Saturday.

Al-Ahli took the lead in the 22nd minute through Moroccan forward Ibtissam Jraidi’s penalty.

Oshoala quickly helped turn tide when Nigeria women’s national team star set up Jéssica Silva to level in the 27th minute before then calmly converting a penalty herself, awarded after Al Bandari Mobarak was fouled, to give Al Hilal a 2–1 lead at halftime.

The host pegged back early in the second half through Fadwa Khaled in the 67th minute, but could not get back to secure a win in the game as Manar Al Enezi struck in the 81st minute to secure all three points for Al Hilal.

The win continues the six-time African Player of the Year’s fine start at her new club as she now boasts two goals and one assist in two matches for her new side.

Al Hilal are now placed in third place, level on points with Al Nassr and Al Ittihad but behind on goal difference (+2). They next face NEOM on Friday, September 26.
