Kamaldeen Sulemana is finding his stride at new club Atalanta with the Ghanaian producing a goal and an assist in Sunday’s 3-0 Serie A victory at Torino.
Sulemana and Nikola Krstovic were the stars for the visitors, who bounced back from a UEFA Champions League thrashing at PSG to win in domestic league play.
It was a complete meltdown from Torino at the end of the first half as Atalanta scored all three goals in an eight-minute span to effectively finish off the match by halftime. After Krstovic opened the scoring on the half hour mark, Sulemana scored his first goal for the club four minutes later after a devastating Atalanta attack that left the Torino defense all out of sorts.
Sulemana then did the hard work for Atalanta’s third in the 38th minute. Marten de Roon’s pass over the top of the Torino defense sent Sulemana in on the left wing and the Ghanaian’s cross left Krstovic with a simple finish to complete his brace. Torino performed better in the second half but could not find a goal to challenge the visitors.
Atalanta next travel to face Juventus next Saturday in league play before resuming their Champions League campaign at home against Club Brugge on September 30. After featuring as a substitute in his first three matches with the club, Sunday marked Sulemana’s second consecutive start in league play with his role continuing to increase.
