Ghana Premier League: Hussein’s strike seals Hearts win at Dreams

Hearts of Oak brushed aside their opening day draw to beat Dreams FC in match day two of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League on Monday.

The Phobians needed the win to reinvigorate the interest of their fan base after the goalless draw against debutants Hohoe United in day one at the Accra Sports Stadium last week.

The opening ten minutes of the clash at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Park in Tema saw an intense midfield battle between both sides but the record Ghana FA Cup holders were resilient with clear inter-positional play.

Ghana national team goalkeeper Benjamin Asare was called to duty a number of times to save important situations for Hearts of Oak when Dreams subjected them to attacks.

However, the 2004 CAF Confederation Cup winners broke off quickly on the right side of the field. Winger Martin Karikari made a swift turn, locating Mohammed Hussein a few meters outside Dreams FC penalty box with a perfect left footed pass.

The diminutive midfielder calmly smashed the ball with his left foot in the 14th minute for Hearts of Oak’s lead, a goal that proved to be the match winnger.

Hearts of Oak will next host Eleven Wonders in match day three on Sunday, September 28 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
