FIFA is organizing the mini-tournament from October 23 to 29 in Dubai, involving Chad, Libya, the UAE and Afghanistan. FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated that staging such tournaments is a priority for the global football governing body. “Ensuring that all women have access to football is a priority for FIFA and a key element in shaping the future of our sport.”
Chad and Libya are not traditionally strong in African women’s football. The tournament is expected to assist both African nations in pursuing their ambitions of making their FIFA Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking debut. Chad recently withdrew from the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, citing financial constraints. Libya has never qualified for a major tournament in its history.
Each team will contest three matches. The side with the most wins or points will be declared the winner of the tournament at the end of October.
