Serie A club Lazio has officially confirmed an injury setback for Nigerian midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who is now expected to be sidelined for a number of weeks.

The Biancocelesti announced that Dele-Bashiru sustained a hamstring injury during their league clash with AS Roma on Sunday after being forced off the pitch just eleven minutes into the derby at the Stadio Olimpico.
In a statement from the club’s medical staff, they confirmed that the extent of the 24-year-old’s injury and also revealed that the he has started his rehabilitation process. Dele-Bashiru has made four league appearances for the Rome-based club this season.
The immediate estimate for recovery is reported to be around one month. This timeline means he will miss Lazio’s next two crucial Serie A fixtures and will remain in Rome to begin his rehabilitation process as confirmed by the club.
Dele-Bashiru is also doubtful for Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic next month.
