Europa League: Anass Zaroury hat-trick, Igamane strikes for Lille
Moroccan internationals Anass Zaroury and Hamza Igamane provided important goals as their respective clubs earned victories in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.

After a slow start to life in Greece with Panathinaikos, Zaroury was given his first start of the season since joining on loan from RC Lens and took full advantage of his opportunity. The former Burnley star contributed a hat-trick in a surprise 4-1 victory at Swiss club BSC Young Boys.
Polish attacker Karol Swiderski produced a neat backheel finish to open the scoring in the 10th minute and from then on, it was all Zaroury. The Belgian-born attacker fired in his first goal when a corner kick fell kindly less than three minutes after Swiderski’s opener.
By the 20th minute, the fury of the home supporters was on full display when Zaroury arrived to finish from a rebound after Young Boys goalkeeper Marvin Keller spilled a long range effort. Zaroury finished off his hat-trick in the 68th minute by finishing from Anastasios Bakasetas’ cross.

Earlier on Thursday, Hamza Igamane and Lille overcame a stingy Brann side to win 2-1 at home. Igamane, also making his first start with a new club like Zaroury, opened the scoring with a poacher’s finish early in the second half.

Brann managed to find an equalizer on the hour mark at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy but Lille had a French striking legend on their side. Coming on as a substitute, Olivier Giroud produced a trademark header to win it in the 80th minute and give hosts Lille maximum points.
Since arriving from Rangers FC, Igamane has three goals in four matches with his previous two goals coming as a halftime substitute when Lille opened the 2025-26 Ligue 1 season with a 7-1 thrashing of Lorient.
