Despite kicking off their Tanzania Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win against KMC FC, Singida Black Stars head coach Miguel Gamondi was not satisfied with the outcome, calling for his team to improve on the final third.
Ivory Coast defender Tra Anthony Urbain Tra Bi was the hero of the day, netting the decisive goal in the 35th minute to hand Miguel Gamondi’s men a perfect start to the new season.
Despite gaining three points from the opening fixture of the 2025-26 campaign, the Argentine tactician admitted not to be impressed with the team’s attacking area, which squandered several scoring opportunities.
“Considering the conditions we prepared for this match, I’m very happy,” said Gamondi as quoted by the Guardian. “We dominated the game, especially in the first half where we played a very good brand of football. We created good chances and kept control of the match for long periods.
“In the second half, we didn’t get many chances, but we were always in control. KMC is a good team, and we respect them a lot, but the most important thing was getting the three points and keeping the players fresh as we recover for the next game.”
He concluded: “I don’t want to make excuses, but I always protect my players. We need to continue to work, improve our decision-making in the final third, and be patient because the goals will come.”
Singida Black Stars will shift focus to their next outing against Rayon Sports in the CAF Confederation Cup before returning to league action against Mashujaa FC.
