Tanzanian champions Young Africans are one step away from the CAF Champions League (CAFCL) group stage after advancing past Angola’s Wiliete SC on Saturday.
After a 3-0 first leg victory in Angola, Yanga confirmed their passage to the final round of qualifying for the group stage with a 2-0 second leg victory at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Influential playmaker Pacôme Zouzoua continued his strong start to the 2025-26 campaign by opening the scoring in the second half after a subdued first half that ended scoreless. Aziz Andabwile added one more goal in the final ten minutes to complete a 5-0 aggregate victory for The Citizens.
Young Africans will now be heavy favorites to qualify for the group stage with Silver Strikers the only obstacle in their way. The Malawian club advanced after holding on for a 0-0 draw with Elgeco Plus of Madagascar at home in Lilongwe, allowing Strikers to advance on the away goals rule after earning a 1-1 draw in the first leg played in Mauritius.
The first leg will be played during the weekend of October 17 through October 19 with an exact date to be determined.
