CAFCC: ZESCO United prepared to turn tables against 105 Libreville – Siwale

ZESCO United coach Emmanuel Siwale believes they have what it takes to turn the tables when they host FC 105 Libreville in the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round tie on Sunday.

The Zambian Super League side will head into the return leg fixture trailing 2-0 from the first leg in Gabon and will be looking to overturn the result at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola to advance to the second preliminary round of the competition.

‘We are a team that creates chances’

Speaking during the pre-match press conference on Saturday, Siwale said the first-leg encounter had given his side valuable insights into their opponents, and they are now prepared to erase the first leg defeat and advance to the next stage.

“We played the first half and we have the second half tomorrow (Sunday), so we are prepared and it is good that we saw how they play…we did not know much about it, but having played them, at least we have seen what they can do,” said Siwale.

“Football is about chances. We are a team that creates chances. We went back and worked on some of the areas. We all know what is at stake, we know what task lies ahead of us. We have the second half which is on Sunday, we have to work hard so that we can turn the tables tomorrow and carry the day.”

Mkhonta confident ZESCO United will progress

Siwale’s sentiments were echoed by Zesco United captain Lindo Mkhonta, who added players are equally upbeat about their chances, and urged fans to rally behind the team.

“My message to the fans is that they can come and support us. We are going to play a very important game, so we urge the supporters to come in their numbers to support us,” said Mkhonta. “As players, we are ready for the game.

We are hungry for this game. We are going to do our best. We know what we can do.”

With their confident mindset and determination, ZESCO United is poised to give FC 105 a tough match.
