Libyan giants Al Ahly Benghazi have confirmed the appointment of Egyptian tactician Tarek Mostafa as head coach of their first team for the current season.
The club made the announcement through its official Facebook page, welcoming the 54-year-old with the message: “The Egyptian Tarek Mostafa, our new head coach. Welcome to your new home.”
Mostafa arrives in Libya shortly after parting ways with Egypt’s National Bank SC, where he left his post at the end of last month following a difficult start to the domestic campaign.
The former Zamalek midfielder is no stranger to Arab football, having previously managed Fujairah in the UAE as well as Moroccan sides Olympic Safi and Difaa Hassani El Jadidi.
Al Ahly Benghazi will be hoping he can push the team more steps further this season after missing out on the Libyan Premier League title last year, finishing fifth in the playoff group.
