CAF Champions League: Colombe Sportive edge past Jaraaf

A solitary goal in the second half helped Colombe stun ASC Jaraaf in their CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg. Colombe advanced to the second round with an aggregate score of 1-0.

It was an evenly matched affair as both sides came from a goalless draw in the first leg in Cameroon. The visitors were comfortable with the ball and gave absolutely no space for the home side to create chances.

Colombe started the second half with a more offensive strategy and were rewarded at the hour mark. Two second-half substitutes combined to score the crucial goal. Calistus Akoh assisted Ghanaian striker Adam Musah to open the scoring with a deflected effort. Jaraaf came close to restoring parity through Abdoulaye Faty’s overhead kick effort but it went over the bar.

The Cameroonian side eliminated the Senegalese champions and will now face Algerian side MC Alger in the second round. Senegal’s flagbearers in African club competitions, Jaraaf and Generation Foot, bowed out early in the preliminaries.
