The Algerian continued his rich vein of form to help Gharafa recover from an opening match defeat to Emirati club Al Sharjah in the league phase. The hosts pounced on poor passing from the Al Shorta defense to win the ball high, where Brahimi set up Joselu for an easy finish to open the scoring in the 48th minute.
A North African connection doubled Gharafa’s advantage six minutes later. Brahimi floated a free kick service into the penalty area and awful marking from the Iraqi club’s defense allowed Tunisia national team midfielder Ferjani Sassi to head in without any pressure.
