Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Karim Zito has set sight on leading the club to the group stage of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors recorded a 5-3 aggregate win over two legs – beating Kwara United by 4-3 in Accra before completing the second leg by 1-0 at the MKO Moshood Abiola Stadium in the preliminary round of the competition.
Asante Kotoko will now face Moroccan side Wydad Athletic Club in the second round of the preliminary round of games over two legs.
Speaking to Kumasi based media outlet, Akoma FC, Zito reaffirmed his belief in the team’s ability to go far despite acknowledging the difficulty of the task.
“Our target is to qualify for the group stages. In football, nothing is impossible, even though it will be difficult,” he told Akoma FM.
“I’m not thinking about WAC at the moment; my focus is on Heart of Lions.”
“I would prefer that we play Wydad AC in Kumasi, but if it ends up in Accra, we’re fine with it.”
“I will call on the fans to always come in their numbers and support us. When they are huge, it gives us so much confidence,” he added.
The two-time African champions, Asante Kotoko, will now shift their attention to the Ghana Premier League with a home game against Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium in the Matchday 4 games this weekend.
